Roll Tide! Residents of the state of Alabama are definitely divided-you are either cheering for Auburn or Alabama-there is no in between.  Our campus tour at University of Alabama began in the welcome center, located in the Bryant-Denny stadium.  The stadium is the 4th largest in the country, holding over 100,000 fans.  Students can attend football games for $5, although all other sporting events are free.

UA enrolled its' largest freshmen class for the fall of 2013, with more out of state students than in state students! The tide is shifting...they also enrolled a record number of national merit scholars and their average ACT score has risen to 25.  The college of Arts and Sciences and the Business school continue to be the most popular.  The Public Relations department is the highest ranked in the country and also offers a masters degree.

Campus was in a major state of "construction"-over 40 new buildings have been built on campus since 2003.  Fortunately, our campus tour took us by bus on a hot summer day of 100 degrees so we were able to avoid the many detours.  A new residence hall will open in the fall and freshmen are required to live on campus.

Almost 29% of students participate in Greek life although there are over 300 other clubs and organizations if Greek life is not for you.  The large, beautiful Greek houses are located directly across the street from the football stadium, right on the edge of campus.

Holding on to many campus traditions and maintaining the historic buildings that survived the Civil War, University of Alabama is a school rich in traditions but changing with the tide.
